ICT Directorate

The Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor. It is headed by a Director, who is responsible to the Vice – Chancellor. The directorate is responsible among others, liaison with National Universities Commission (NUC), National Communications Commission (NCC) and other Organizations with regard to ICT, coordinating the Students Laptop program, implementation of ICT Policies and ensuring standards in all ICT related activities in the University. The Directorate currently has four Sub-units which are responsible for coordination and administration of all the ICT functions and services on behalf of the University.

  • Management and Information System (MIS)
  • Equipment and Maintenance
  • Research and Development.

These Sub-Units are responsible for:-

Network Infrastructure and Security

a. Service the University Network

-Install and maintain all networks on campus.

-Provide computer and network security systems

b. ICT Infrastructure and Management

c. Servicing and Maintaining the  e- library

d. The Operation and maintenance of computer Centers

e. Suggesting the need and type of Infrastructure for all Faculties and Departments.

f. Any other assignments.

GIANT STRIDES:
With the coming up of this administration, the domain of the University was launched and presently accessed via www.adsu.edu.ng as against the cloud of dot (.) com. This is in addition to the Zimbra e-mails for all staff and students and the EDUPORTAL which enables our students register on-line and check results anywhere in the Globe. The portal also enables our staff and students access research materials from the virtual library.
The ICT Policy of this University is accorded top priority, which is anchored on the desire to make all academic, research and administrative operations ICT driven. The Management is also in top gear towards paperless office.
The following facilities were also provided to enhance the ICT driven policy.

  • One-to-one Students Laptop program; making all our students own ADSU branded laptop.
  • Robust software, Students Record Management System (SRMS) for results computation, compilation and storage.
  • A wireless Internet and Intranet network covering three (3) km radius.
  • Interactive Electronic Starboards for teaching in all Lecture Halls and Classrooms with Internet compliance.
  • Presence of cyber café with 100 computer capacity and six computer Laboratories for Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Econometrics, Accounting, two for Computer Science Department and a Postgraduate Library which are all Internet compliant. In addition to these, there is also a 24hrs uninterrupted Internet Café with fifteen (15) Computer Systems at the Multipurpose wing, called MPH cyber café.
  • Establishment of an Electronic Data Management System (EDMS) through TETFund.
  • An Electronic Library with over 5,000books and current Journals and
  • Establishment of a virtual learning environment with e-resources including lecture notes and assignments.
  • Building of a state-of-the art ICT Centre with Illumination, smart classrooms and e-conference centers when completed.
  • Installation of fiber optic cables in the Campus with an uninterrupted internet services from Globacom is 90% completed.
