The Deputy Vice Chancellor: Dr. Mohammed Dahiru Toungos

B.Sc Agric(Unimaid), M.Sc Agronomy(Ibadan), Ph.D Crop Science(MAUTECH)

Dr. Mohammed Dahiru Toungos was born on 2nd June, 1959 at Toungo. He hails from Toungo Local Government of Adamawa State, Nigeria. Dr. Mohammed Dahiru Toungos, is happily married and blessed with children.

Dr. Toungos, attended University of Maiduguri, Borno, where he obtained B.Sc (Agric) and graduated in 1992. He had his M.Sc (Agronomy) at University of Ibadan between 1996 to 1998, and he had Ph.D (Crop Science) at the prestigious Modibbo Adama University of Technology, (MAUTECH) Yola between 2002 to 2007. He has his working experience as follows: Mentan Primary School, Toungo as a Teacher(Assistant HeadMaster) from 1980 to 1981. Government Science Secondary School Ganye as an Agric Teacher/Form Master between 1985 to 1995. Federal College of Education Yola as a lecturer between 1993 to 2009. Also he taught and supervised students projects, Positions of responsibility held include: Dean, School of Vocational Education between 2005 to 2007, Ag. Head Agric Education between 1996 to 1997, School of Vocational Education Examination Officer between 1999 to 2000, Head Agric Education Department between 2003 to 2005.

Adamawa State University, Mubi January, from 2009 to date. In ADSU, he taught and supervised both Undergraduate and Post Graduate students, he was the first Deputy Director, Academic Planning between 2010 to 2011, Chairman ADSU Bulletin 2010 to 2014, Chairman ADSUNet 2010 to 2014, and the pioneer Director ICT 2012 to 2015, Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor November 2015 to March 2016, currently he is the substantive Deputy Vice Chancellor, ADSU Mubi. He has successfully supervised six(6) M.Sc students and many undergraduate students.

Dr. Mohammed Dahiru Toungos conducted many publications and researches to his credit and attended many conferences, National and International, some of the International conferences attended include:

  1. A World Bank Development Project on ICT Retreat of Science and Technology Education, Soghai, Republic of Benin 2009.
  2. International Conference on ICT and Leadership Training, Oxford Brookes Business School, 2010.
  3. International Conference on Africa/Middle East Seminar on 21st Century Campus, organised by Microsoft Office, Dubai, 2014.
  4. International Conference on Big Data (Internet of Things – ioT), GITEX Technology Week, Dubai, 2014.
  5. International Conference on Advance ICT Management: Trends and Strategic Program, in Galilee, Israel, 2015.

In addition, he has written two(2) books and over thirty(30) publications.

He also has routine Administrative duties both in the University and the Nation.

Dr. Mohammed Dahiru Toungos is a vastly experienced Administrator. He was appointed as the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor Adamawa State University, Mubi on 4th November, 2015, by the Visitor, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State Sen. Muhammad Umar Jibrilla. Due to his hard work, vision and commitment to the development of the University, the State and the Country at large, Dr. Toungos, was appointed the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University, on 4th March, 2016. His routine Administrative duties include the smooth running of the University, teaching, research and community service.

The versatile, Dr. Toungos belongs to many professional bodies, National and international, some of which include:

  2. Member: Genetics Society of Nigeria Nigeria.
  3. Member: Food Science Society of Nigeria, Nigeria.
  4. Member: Horticultural Society of Nigeria (HORTSON), Nigeria.
  5. Chairman: Toungo A Youth Development Association, Nigeria.
  6. Chairman: Gamji International Resources (Nig) Ltd, Nigeria.
